Viviante

Writer: Vicky HuttonVicky Hutton

Vivianite is an incredible gemstone. It’s incredibly soft, with a Mohs hardness of only 1.5 - 2. This makes it a very fragile gemstone for jewellery, so ideally not for everyday jewellery. It was named after its discoverer John Henry Vivian, an English man from Cornwell, who first found it in Bolivia, South Africa. The gemstone is a very deep green, looking black at first glance. It’s a birth stone associated with Capricorn. It’s said to ward off negativity, helping with mental clarity. It’s said to have even been used to treat dementia. Vivianite is said to enhance iron absorption, and has been used to treat anaemia. So all and all, Vivianite is a must have, in any gemstone collection! This is my piece. Vivianite will be added to the shop very soon.
