Malachite is very connected to Egyption history. Ancient Egyptians believed that the afterlife contained an eternal paradise which resembled their lives but with no pain or suffering, and referred to this place as the 'Field of Malachite'.
Ancient Egyptians also used malachite amulets to ward off evil. During the middle ages, the stone was used as a cure for vomiting. Many different cultures, also believed the stone protected children from evil spirits.
Malachite honours Isis, the Egyptian Goddess of Life, the most important goddess of Egyptian mythology.
Cleopatra used malachite on her upper eyelid makeup. Malachite has been found in burial housing places of ancient Egyptians, to help guide them to the afterlife.
Malachite was associated with death and the power of resurrection as well as new life and fertility.
