The story of Neptune and the sirens

Aquamarine was said to protect sailors, while on long sea voyages. Little did they know, sirens were also very fond of the stone, and would collect the gemstone from every sailor they doomed at sea. The sirens would sing beautiful songs, that the sailors would hear and be drawn towards. Sailing aimlessly towards the sirens voices , They would sail into jagged rocks, resulting in their ship sinking. The sirens would then raid the ship and the sailors would drown.

Neptune heard about these stunning gemstones that had captured the beauty of the ocean, and took them from the sirens. Neptune declared them the gemstone of the summer seas and put them under his protection.

In Latin terms aquamarine means ‘water of the sea’
