The Moerae or The Fates, were three sisters. Clotho, Lachesis and Atropos.
Clotho would spin a thread of life with her spindle. Lachesis would measure how long the life would be with her measuring rod. And lastly Atropos, would choose how the life would end.
The Moerae were primordial deities, so they were in the first generation of the gods and goddesses.
People would honour the Moerae using jade. Jade is very hard and unyielding just like the Moerae, who would not be influenced by anything, even Jade.
